It's September. That means.. School starts again!

Time for school

Today is the 4th of September and that means that the first school week here in Austria is almost over. I decided to write a blog about school because I kinda missed school lately. I used to buy my school stuff and my ticket for another school year every first weekend in September. But that's over now. I graduated last June. How time flies.. I'm going to study at the university in October. But to be honest.. I would like to go to school again. It was soo much easier! I only had to go to my classes and write everything down my teacher told us. And now I have to organize E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. on my own. I have to create my own curriculum, I have to research when my classes are going to be and where, and I have to find out when my Tests are going to be held, and so much more! I'm not complaining.. I just realized how easy my life was when I was in high school.. I just miss my high school days..

If you, my dear reader, still go to school.. Enjoy your time. :) Someday, you'll understand what I'm talking about. And yes, even your craziest and strictest teachers are going to be in your "I miss.."-List! (I couldn't believe it either though haha!).

And as it is Thursday today and I'm missing school.. I'm going to do a #throwbackthursday post about my school. :)

First of all, I went to a private high school. But we didn't have to wear uniforms like anyone would assume. The school system here in Austria is definitely different than the school systems in the US or in the UK.

Short explanation:
at least 1 year kindergarten
4 years elementary
4 or 8 years high school (There are two different types of high school here. I went to high school for 8 years)
at least 3 years university (It depends on how long you'll need to get enough "points" to graduate and it depends on your course, of course)

What I liked about my class was the fact that we didn't have those typical cliques. We were a community. There were no "popular" kids. Everyone had their close friends, but once we had to do a project with someone we weren't really close to.. We just did it. Without negative comments. No one got bullied and everyone had at least one friend. I have to say that I was very lucky. I know that there are a lot of students who have to deal with things like bullying. (If you are being bullied.. Just keep your head up high and walk away! Don't mind those haters! One day, they will be sorry about everything and you won't care. But please tell someone, a teacher, your parents or friends. I'm sure you're not alone!).

The food in our cafeteria was horrible! I hated it, therefore I always went to the Mall nearby and bought myself some sandwiches or something. (Thank God there was a supermarket near my school. We always went there to get some food). :)

My favourite subject was English. Many people ask me why I loved English so much. Well, I love the language and I love reading english books. And I loved my English teacher, whom I'm going to call Ms B here. (I don't want her to get recognized.. It's still the internet, right?) Ms B was the kind of teacher who inspired me a lot. She wasn't the most patient person, but every time she left the classroom, there was definitely something new I've learned. Additionally, my English teacher was the kind of teacher who tried to "connect" to her students. She didn't just talk about Shakespeare. Ms B also played games, showed us funny Youtube videos and she let us write essays about topics like the thigh gap or our favourite celebrity. I really liked her way of teaching. Her lessons weren't easy, but I know that every single person in my class graduated with the ability to communicate in English somehow (But I guess we all forgot about the If-sentences again.. We all hated the If-sentences haha). She has been my teacher for 4 years and I have to say that my English has improved A LOT. I'm not saying that my English is perfect, but it is so much better now. And honestly.. I miss her. I miss going to her lessons. She's such an inspiration to me.

Ms B.. In case you're reading this. Thank you! You were THE best teacher I've ever had. And definitely my favourite! ;) (Yes, my dear reader, in case she reads this blog, she'll know I'm talking about her!)

Despite the horrible food.. I realized that I liked my school a lot. I wish I had realized it a bit earlier though.. :)

The entrance.. Yes, my school's very old already

Well, that's it for now! I might write another blog today.. I'm kinda enjoying it a lot right now hehe. :)

'till my next post!

Much love,

--Sel
